Fired 'Gangnam' Lifeguards Appeal to LA City Council

The 14 El Monte, California lifeguards who were fired for making a “Gangnam Style” tribute video attended a city hall meeting Tuesday night to appeal to get their jobs back.

When they were fired, the city issued a statement that said that the video was “a clear unauthorized use of city resources and property, including the use of city facilities and city-issued uniforms during the making of this unauthorized video.”

Many people, including South Korean pop star PSY, who made the original video, have come out to support the lifeguards. A Facebook page has almost 15,000 likes.

Here’s the lifeguards’ video, which has now been viewed over 1.5 million times.
